The Creative Closet II Fabulous Flannel

I would like to start this by saying I am not a fashion blogger. I also did not take these photos with the intention of doing a link up. But when I saw the topic, and since I had just worn my new plaid scarf, I figured why not!

I got this scarf while we were in Nepal. Scarf are very popular over there and you can get them for pretty cheap. This scarf was the most expensive one I bought while we were there, and it was $7.

I went looking for a scarf of this particular style. I wanted a big blanket style plaid scarf. I have been seeing them on Pinterest and fell in love with them. I knew here in the states they would be a bit more then I wanted to pay, and I also knew I could probably find what I was looking for while overseas for pretty cheap.

Krystal and I spent a whole day going around to different shopping districts. Our last stop for the day was in Thamel, which is a huge tourist shopping area. It tends to be more expensive then the places the locals go to, but they also have more western styles.

The first scarf shop we went into, we told the guy what we were looking for and he said it didn't exist. I would not be able to find it in all of Thamel. He tried to sell me something I didn't want, so I said no and left. The very next shop we walked into had what I was looking for.

I really didn't care about the colors, although I did cringe a little buying this one because it is red/black/white (UGA colors.... we are GT fans... the pride runs deep). I actually had another one picked out when the shop owner showed me this one. I told him is just needed one, and was going to get the smaller one because it was cheaper. He had started at $20 american. I told him no, that is what I would pay that in the states. I paid for the small one and tried to leave. He kept coming down on the price, until finally he agreed to $7. I think this is my best haggle to date :)

side note: My boots came in just before we left. This was my second time wearing them :)

I finally got to wear it this past weekend to the pumpkin patch. It is a soft warm material, and it was blazing hot outside that day. I love it and can't wait until it starts to get and stay cold!

Fashion

OK, I want to start this off by saying that I am NOT a fashion blogger. I love fashion blogs and enjoy looking at and reading them. There are some really fun things out there that make me want to try new things with my clothes. I also don't feel like I am a very fashionable person, nor do I buy things often enough to warrant blogging about it on a regular basis.

But........... there are a few fashion trends going on right now that I just DO NOT understand.

1.) The high waisted pants/shorts.
Really did we not learn our lessons from the "mom jean"?

I get it.... they look retro and retro is cool.
There are some items that look good high waisted. Like a wide leg trouser or a pencil skirt. If they are done right. But the pants with the tapered leg and the wide hips??? Really??? This is cool?? You are just making yourself look like you have bigger hips then you actually do.

Maybe that is why I don't like them. I already have big enough hips. I don't need my pants or shorts making them look bigger.

This takes me to the next item.

2.) The MC Hammer pants.

Again... really? Again.... Did we not learn our lesson?
I guess not... because these are what's cool...

They are just not cute. Why would you want to walk around looking like your crotch is down around your knees? This can't be comfy to walk in. I just imagine there is a lot of swooshing going on. They also don't help the hip situation.

3.) Prints.
There are some pretty crazy prints going on. Most of them aren't horrible and truthfully I don't hate the floral thing going on. Some of it is really fun and cute. But then every now and then I come across an item that looks like it use to be on someone's grandmother's sofa. Or that you raided your grandmother's closet. The pattern looks old, therefore makes you look old. Just sayin'.....

That is all I have for now.... Happy Tuesday!
